Marcus partly has his three older brothers to thank for his tennis success.

Bored watching them bat and bowl on the cricket field, he decided to go with a friend to play tennis.

He hasn't looked back since, with his love of the game growing while his talent flourished.

"I enjoy the mental challenge, friends and travelling," Marcus said.

The athlete was selected in the State School Sport tennis team.

On May 1, the team travelled to Hobart to compete in the Pizzey Cup.

WA finished fourth.

"I only lost in my matches against Victoria and New South Wales," Marcus said.

He said he would like a scholarship to an American college.
