Riverton aquanauts win 91 medals at short course swimming competition

IT might be cold outside, but that did not stop almost 40 local swimmers taking to the water for the latest round of Swimming WA’s Short Course season.

The 37 young Riverton Aquanauts competed in 168 events between them, not only earning 99 personal best times but also bringing home 32 gold, 25 silver and 34 bronze.

Head coach Gemma Herrington said it was a great result for the club.

“The club only attends a few winter competitions, as we generally spend the colder months training hard to prepare for the summer competitions,” she said.

“It was great to see the athletes compete at the Perth City event, to show how well the swimmers are progressing over winter.”
