SBL: Tigers do double over Stirling Senators

WILLETTON Tigers started the Easter long weekend in good fashion after both the men and women’s SBL teams won against the Stirling Senators.

The women recorded a huge 50-point win, 98-48, with the starting five all scoring at least 10 points.

Kate Malpass finished with 15 points and nine assists, while Lou Tomlinson did an awesome job of getting the rebounds for the Tigers with four offensive and nine defensive boards, as well as scoring 18 points.

Desiree Kelley had five steals throughout the game, most leading to a fastbreak layup, while Ebony Antonio’s game consisted of five three-pointers on her way to 17 points.

The Tigers men’s team claimed a 14-point win, 113-99 over the Senators, with an exciting start thanks to Jay Bowie slam-dunking and sinking a three-pointer to put the Tigers ahead early.

Bowie’s impressive game saw him collect 45 points, with Kyle Armour also impressing with 26 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Josh Johnson was a key player for his teammates with eight assists, nine points and 12 rebounds and Nicholas Cody had six rebounds, and 12 points.

The Tigers come up against the Goldfields Giants this weekend.
