SBL: Willetton Tigers claim double win over East Perth Eagles

THE unstoppable Willetton Tigers continue to dominate the State Basketball League, with both sides taking wins against East Perth Eagles on the weekend.

It was the 11th win of the season for top-of-the-table Willetton women, securing a 24-point victory 78-54.

Zoe Harper had an outstanding game with 25 points, dominating under the keyway with an additional six offensive rebounds and six defensive.

Harper assisted Kate Malpass with her three-pointer helping to boost Malpass’s game total to 15 points as her defence spurred her on to get three blocked shots, four steals and four defensive rebounds.

Ebony Antonio and Lara Napier both with four assists and Napier delivered a further five steals and eight points while Antonio chalked up five rebounds and nine points, adding to the total team efforts.

The Tigers men delivered a nail-biting performance against the Eagles, narrowly escaping with a five point win 100-105 despite leading throughout the game.

Nicholas Cody impressively slam-dunked in the first quarter to add to his 19-point total, eight rebounds and huge two blocked shots.

Jay Bowie scored 23 points, helping his teammates with six assists, including one full court pass to Damien Scott in the first quarter.

Charles Funches displayed an awesome defence with four blocked shots, and offensively with 13 points.

Kyle Armour was the leading point scorer with 25 including three 3-pointers.

The Tiger’s men now sit third on the ladder.

This Friday the sides play away against the Perry Lakes Hawks at Bendat Stadium, women’s tip off at 6pm and men’s at 8pm.
