SOUTHERN Districts Netball Association enjoyed a strong weekend at Netball WA’s Association Championships.

The association sent 14 teams to the championships – the third highest of all the districts – and five of those sides made their respective grand finals.

Their Open Division 5, U17 Division 2, U14 Division 3, U12 Division 1 and No Limits Netball side for intellectually disabled players gave their all, but unfortunately all five teams lost their grand final matches.

Southern Districts’ U12 Division 5, U12 Division 3, U13 Division 2 and U15 Division 3 teams finished third in their competitions.

Southern Districts development officer Bev Gallagher picked the No Limits Netball side’s performances as the highlight of the weekend.

“The Red Devils went through the day undefeated until we met the Fremantle Jaffas in the grand final in front of a big crowd on the main court at the State Netball Centre,” she said.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t get the win, but a great time was had by all.”

She said Southern Districts would keep the No Limits Red Devils team running, with Thursday night training and more competitions coming up in July.

Anyone interested in joining is encouraging to contact the club.
