Jessica NicoCanning Gazette

THE hours-long road trip to Albany was worth it for 27 members of the Riverton Aquanauts, who made the return trip with an extra 54 medals in their luggage.

As well as a haul of 18 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals, the team also recorded more than 80 personal best times at the Albany Short Course Carnival on June 30 and July 1.

Head coach Gemma Herrington said the Riverton swimmers were all aged between eight and 16 and had competed against Albany Swimming Club and other Perth clubs that had travelled for the event.

“It was great to see the team race so well after the many hours on the road,” she said.
