IF YOU have ever thought about picking up a tennis racquet, now is the time.
As the weather cools, the Thornlie Tennis Club is flicking on the lights most nights and anyone is welcome to join.
Club spokeswoman Glenda Hoskin, from Lynwood, said the club was keen to entice new faces to have a hit for the first time, or get back into the sport.
“Now is the perfect time of year to start, it’s cool and there is something on every day to get people active,” she said.
“We have members from all over the region and any skill level is welcome; I started at school 30 years ago and didn’t play for a long time.”
The club’s youngest player is five-years-old and the oldest is in their 80s.
“We have parents who drop their kids off for a lesson and stay around for a hit, it’s very enjoyable,” Mrs Hoskin said.
The club hosts adult and junior coaching and pennants.
“Come and play or learn to play tennis, (it) is a sport that can be played for a lifetime, mind and body allowing. It is an inviting and friendly sport allowing everyone a chance to learn and meet with new people and friends,” Ms Hoskin said.
