Tigers lash Cougars in Cup clash

The teams were playing for the Community News Cup, sponsored by the Canning Times.

The Tigers out-rebounded the Cougars by six, held them to 41 per cent shooting from the field and forced 20 turnovers, their best defensive game of the year.

The Tigers had the game in their keeping with 90 seconds left on the clock, when the power went out, forcing the game to be called.

Import John Dickson continued his strong play, averaging 29 points and 13 rebounds and shooting 50 per cent from the field over the weekend.

Teammates Nic Cody (16.5 points, 9 rebounds) and Hayden Noordhoek (16 points, 5 rebounds) also turned in exceptional efforts.

The Tigers women’s team lost to Cockburn by 12 points.

Ebony Antionio (14 points, 10 rebounds) turned in solid games while Lisa Wallbutton (10 points, 10 rebounds) continued her stellar play from last weekend.

On Friday night, both teams lost to the Rockingham Flames, with the women going down 94-60 and the men losing a tough contest 101-97.

The Tigers will host the Perry Lake Hawks at home on Saturday.
