With just three days notice, Stanford was flown to Brazil to shoot a FIFA World Cup soccer commercial for McDonald’s.
Stanford, a physiotherapist, filmed three shots in four days and helped with ideas and advice. He said the experience was surreal.
‘It was quite mind-blowing to see the amount of work that goes into an ad that is only 30 seconds on TV,’ he said.
‘I felt pretty privileged to be involved.
‘It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.’
He said one of the shots, which involved kicking a ball from the back of a truck, took about 150 attempts.
‘The shot of that going in was astronomical,’ he said. ‘It was complex and easily the hardest shot I have ever had to do.’
Back home, he said you would never know what was around the corner for the How Ridiculous group.
‘We always have a few ideas in the works, it is just a matter of making them a reality,’ he said.
