WESTFIELD stores across Australia remain open for business.

A message from Scentre Group’s CEO Peter Allen last night said it remained business as usual at all 42 Westfield Centre’s across Australia and New Zealand.

To curb fears over Covid-19, Mr Allen has reassured shoppers that all centres have stepped up their cleaning and hygiene practices.

Following the advice from Health authorities, all Westfield staff returning from overseas will be required to self-isolate at home prior to coming back to work.

Shoppers are also urged to wash hands regularly, cover coughs with their arm and stay home if they have flu-like symptoms.

“We apply the highest standard of cleanliness across our Westfield stores, and increased the routine cleaning of frequently touched hard surfaces,” he said.

“We expect our retail partners to apply the same principles to their cleanliness and hygiene.”

Mr Allen said those who returned from overseas from March 16, are required to self-isolate and are not to visit a Westfield store during this period.

“Members of the public should be confident to go about their day-to-day activities including shopping at their local Westfield,” he said.

“As circumstances continue to develop we will update our approach to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our customers, team members and communities is our highest priority.”
