BURSTS of colour splattered onto squealing children when Aubin Grove Primary School students participated in a fundraising colour run on Friday.

The event was part of the school’s wider wellbeing day, where students were able to learn about mental health, resilience and feelings, how to ask someone if they are okay and listen to motivational speakers talk about their own experiences.

Aubin Grove Primary P&C president Kelly Schrader said no one was a blank canvas and everyone was marked by their experiences, a concept demonstrated when the colours marked the students as they ran.

“Our Kidsmatter team in conjunction with our school community understand the importance of exploring mental health and having open conversations from a very young age about the importance of developing a positive mental outlook, in addition to what to do if this is not the case,” she said.

“Each year we have a week that focuses on health and wellbeing for our whole community, so conversations are started and education about positive health and wellbeing are had in our classrooms and staff room.

“The colour run highlighted the importance of this week and celebrated the coming together of the whole school community in a fun, positive and healthy way.”

Funds raised during the event will be used to buy classroom equipment and resources.
