HEARTLESS thieves have cut through fencing to steal a juvenile alpaca from a property in Munster.

The 11-month-old named “Jamie” was taken from a lot on Mayor Road overnight leaving its owners, a couple in their 70s, distraught.

Family friend Chris Simpson said they were keen to see it returned as soon as possible.

“The pregnant mother is just walking around looking for her baby,” he said.

“The owners are in their 70s and are really upset. It’s just wrong that someone would do this.”

Mr Simpson said it would have taken two or three people to catch the evasive animal, which would naturally flee someone it did not know.

“It’s ok with us but to catch it there must have been more than one person,” he said.

“You’d have to be Usain Bolt to catch it.”

Anyone with information can call Mr Simpson on 0418 930 502.
