WATCH the race that stops a nation while enjoying some fun on the ice.
Ice skating is not typically associated with horse racing, but the Cockburn Ice Arena is giving people a ‘cool’ option with the Melbourne Cup function on November 6.
Cockburn Ice Arena events and special projects manager Nadine Brazil said the decision to hold a Melbourne Cup event started from a simple idea in 2016.
“Our staff gathered in our restaurant Cabin 401 Bar and Grill to watch the race but, looking around the empty room, we thought we have a beautiful venue and amazing food so why not showcase it,” she said.
“Cabin 401 at Cockburn Ice Arena is a little hidden gem, nestled in the beautiful surrounds of Bibra Lake. It is such a unique venue and it is sure to impress.
“We have live entertainment, sweeps, best dressed and door prizes, a day full of fun and frivolity.”
Cockburn Ice Arena’s Melbourne Cup event is on November 6 from 11am to 3pm, with ticket holders able to enjoy a pre-drink skate.
