THE wait is almost over with the City of Cockburn’s grand new aquatic and recreation centre (ARC) to officially open on Monday, May 22.

Access to the $109 million facility built at Cockburn Central West will be open to a limited few over the two days prior, with the City offering a ticketed grand opening “discover” weekend.

Six sessions will be held over Saturday and Sunday, with visitors able to tackle the three world-class waterslides and aquatic areas, while staff will also provide information on the centre’s other programs and services.

Cockburn ARC’s first official day of business will be Monday, May 22.

Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said the City was excited to open a facility more than ten years in the making.

“It demonstrates the capacity of a partnership between local, state and federal government, a professional national sporting code and an Australian public research university to deliver an environmentally sustainable community facility for people of all abilities,” he said.

Tickets for the preview weekend are limited.
