Cockburn ARC wins 15th award

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

COCKBURN ARC has won its 15th award since opening its doors in May 2017.

The $109m aquatic and recreation centre won the 2018/19 Australian Institute of Australia (WA) PRINTSYNC Pinnacle Award for Marketing Excellence at a gala event on March 22.

City of Cockburn chief executive Stephen Cain said the award recognised the ARC’s brand development both before and after it’s opening, including the provocative SunSmart campaign with floor stickers that read “It’s not call Cockburn for nothing”.

“Good ideas only become great ideas by giving the flexibility to good people to make them great,” he said on accepting the award.

“The ARC may have been a good idea, but it took the collective and creative skills of a whole range of our staff to make it the great project that it is today.”

The $20,000 prize of a leadership and management training package was donated to Cancer Council WA.

March has also brought another milestone for the ARC, with more than 2.45 million people visiting since it opened.
