The award recognises outstanding service from an elected member who has served 12 years or more.

Cr Allen was nominated by his colleagues on council – Deputy Mayor Carol Reeve-Fowkes and councillors Chamonix Terblanche and Lee-Anne Smith.

Among the achievements highlighted in his nomination, councillors said Cr Allen had advocated for improved governance after the council was suspended in 2000, had used his career in the finance sector to guide the City and fostered relationships between community groups and the City.

Cr Allen is also a world sailing champion and was inducted into the City of Cockburn’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
