GREENS candidate Shannon Hewitt says he was inspired to fight for the state seat of Cockburn at the March State Election because of his passion for the community and his party’s approach to politics.

“WA is on the brink of a renewable energy boom and we need a government who can manage it well,” he said.

“We need to listen to the people of Cockburn and WA and create a plan based on expert opinions, which includes provisions for affordable energy storage, rather than becoming blinded by big business.”

Mr Hewitt said he was against the Perth Freight Link.

“We can achieve sustainable economic growth without selling out on our environmental principles, our health or our natural resources,” he said.

“As it stands today, we have a government destroying our precious wetlands, interfering with councils trying to ban the single use plastic bag and showing a lack of leadership, innovation and drive to incorporate clean energy into the sector.”
