Cockburn: police locate missing fishing boat lost in October

POLICE have located the 5.5m fishing boat that went missing off Cockburn last month with four men on board.

The search began on Thursday, October 4 off the coast of Cockburn, Fremantle and Rottnest when the vessel failed to return as planned.

The bodies of Jacob Pham (24) and Justin O’Neill (32) were found on the Friday, while Uock Pham (50) and his brother Tuan Pham (40’s) remain missing.

Water Police, Volunteer Sea Rescue groups, Rottnest Rangers, Department of Transport, AMSA and local Police conducted searches and the bodies of two men were located west of Garden Island.

The search was restarted on October 29, when debris was discovered eight miles off the coast between Carnac Island and Rottnest.

Water Police divers located the vessel and it was raised yesterday.

It is now being examined to form part of the report for the Coroner.
