A Coogee man who has spent more than 65 years of his life volunteering has received the 2019 Cockburn WA Day Award.
Desmond O’Brien was recognised for his service at the City’s 48th Annual Pioneers Luncheon on May 31, which honours residents who have lived in Cockburn for more than 60 years and have significantly contributed to its growth and development.
Mr O’Brien, a full-time carer for his wife, has volunteered at various organisations, including the Cockburn Junior Football Club, Hamilton Hill Ex Scholars, Cockburn Bowling Club and Cockburn Sunday League since the 1950s.
