Coolbellup man charged with burglary, stealing offences

A 29-year-old man from Coolbellup has been charged with a series of offences after he allegedly assaulted the occupant of a home during a burglary last month.

About 6.30am on November 29 police say the man assaulted the occupant of a home in Coogee when he was confronted by the person.

The man fled the home in a Subaru Forester that was allegedly stolen during a burglary at a home in Bibra Lake the night before.

Police saw the Subaru about 4.40pm on November 29 in South Lake.

It is alleged the driver failed to stop but police did not continue following the vehicle due to the manner of the man’s driving.

About 6.30pm, inquiries by Fremantle Detectives led them to a home in Coolbellup where they recovered the stolen Subaru and a suitcase containing property stolen from several burglaries.

A 37-year-old woman from Coolbellup was charged with stealing and she is next due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on January 4.

Fremantle Detectives continued their investigation and yesterday they executed a search warrant at a residence in Lavinia Crescent, Coolbellup, where it will be alleged they located and seized stolen property.

The 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of aggravated home burglary and commit, stealing, attempting to gain benefits by fraud, aggravated robbery, home burglary and commit, trespass and stealing a motor vehicle.

He has also been charged with aggravated failure to stop, reckless driving to avoid pursuit, no authority to drive, possessing a prohibited drug (cannabis) and possessing drug paraphernalia.

The man will appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
