Drug raid reveals bumper cannabis crop

MORE than 400 cannabis plants have been seized by police after the crop was discovered at a specially converted home.

Ten rooms with light shades were discovered during the police raid at a house in Bibra Lake.

Detectives raided the house as part of Operation Silverdrift, which aims to target organised crime gangs who set up cannabis grow houses in rental properties.

A spokesman for WA Police said: “As part of ongoing investigations, Organised Crime Squad Detectives attached to Task Force Silverdrift executed a Misuse of Drugs search warrant at a house on Della Drive in Bibra Lake.

“During the search detectives discovered the power to the house had been illegally tampered with,” he added.

“Inside the house 10 rooms had been converted to grow cannabis plants. Detectives seized over 400 mature cannabis plants, over 100 light shades and a number globes.

“Inquiries are continuing. Anyone with any information relating to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers or report online. Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.”
