Fair fundraiser for farmers

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

A COMMUNITY fair will take over Manning Park next weekend to fundraise for Australia’s drought affected farmers.

The Community Fair Fundraiser for Drought Relief will put the fun into fundraising with a range of family-friendly activities to enjoy including giant games and inflatables, face painting, slot car racing, entertainment, workshops and demonstrations from United Martial Arts and the South Coogee Bush Fire Brigade.

The fair has been organised under Centrepoint Church Bibra Lake’s Beyond the Walls program, where members endeavour to run events or offer services that positively impact the community.

Centrepoint Church Bibra Lake campus director Sofia Gibbons said Australians had a spirit of helping each other out and she hoped this fun event would get more members of the community helping farmers in need.

“It’s a way for families to get involved in our local community, meet new friends and have a lot of fun, all while knowing they are supporting a great cause,” she said.

“As individuals we can only do so much, but when we come together as a team, we can achieve so much more.

“The thing about community is that we’re in this together and we need to be there for each other whether it be sharing highs or helping each other out when things get tough.

“One of the biggest issues in today’s society is isolation, so we want to do our part in making sure that our Australian farmers know that they are well supported and that they are not alone in this difficult season.”

The Community Fair Fundraiser for Drought Relief is on October 6 at Manning Park’s Alan Thomas Music Shell from 1pm to 5pm.
