SPORTING clubs based at the Beeliar Community Centre could soon be on the receiving end of a financial boost to help upgrade infrastructure.

Fremantle MHR Josh Wilson was in Beeliar last week to announce funding of $75,000 for the centre should Labor wins the upcoming Federal Election, with the money to be put towards new lightning, picnic benches, bike racks and an upgrade to the centre’s kitchen facility.

Mr Wilson said the funding would help support Beeliar Spirit Soccer Club, Phoenix Cricket Club, Football West and other sporting groups who use the centre and oval.

“It is a central hub for this rapidly growing suburb,” he said.

“Improving the facilities will ensure that use of the precinct is maximised, and that local residents have every opportunity to be engaged with activities and people in their own neighbourhood.

“An upgrade to the centre’s kitchen facility will enable local community groups and sporting clubs who use the grounds to grow and better serve their members and the addition of lighting, picnic benches and bike racks will make the existing playground a more inviting place for people to meet and play.”
