Great cocky count returns to Perth

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

PERTH residents are encouraged to register for the 2019 Great Cocky Count.

Held on April 7, the annual BirdLife Australia event asks volunteers to monitor known roost sites and to count white-tailed and red-tailed black cockatoos as they come in to their evening roosts.

The count should take place at sunset, usually between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

The statistics collected will be used to determine population numbers and help with conservation of the endangered species.
