Bethanie Illawong in Hamilton Hill was just one WA Bethanie site taking part in purple-themed activities including a barbecue, happy hour and a number of morning teas, complete with purple cakes decorated by residents.
Bethanie’s chaplains co-ordinator David Van Leen said Purple Week was about acknowledging the not-for-profit facility’s Christian heritage, celebrating its commitment to clients and inspiring respect and kindness throughout the community.

“Our theme this year encourages all participants to take ownership for their actions and responsibilities, with this belief making up one of Bethanie’s six signature behaviors,” he said. “Throughout the week we will be showcasing the work Bethanie does in support of this belief, as well as how it translates to our broader community.”
