Hamilton Hill: snail race to shed light on mental illness in performing arts

Belinda CiprianoCockburn Gazette

A DIGITAL snail race to be held at the Memorial Hall in Hamilton Hill next month hopes to shed a light on mental illness in the performing arts industry.

The event held by Studio2Stage Productions will include digital races on the big screen and will raise money for Entertainment Assist according to a spokeswoman.

“You use fun money instead of real money and place bets on a chosen snail runner in the hope it makes it to the end of the race without being trampled on by a larger garden insect/animal,” she said.

“As you watch your snail runner on the big screen in anticipation of it winning the race, our friendly and rather comical commentator ‘Peedy the Parrot’, will be sure to have you laughing and smiling as he calls each of the races for the night.

“There is a chance not all snail runners will actually make it to the end and if your snail runner is deemed the winner you will receive either fun money for its efforts as your prize or real cash and a small gift if the winning snail is your sponsored runner.”

The night will also include raffle prizes and lucky dips and an auction race with a cash prize.
