THEY are a community organisation, but some locals have not been kind to the Hamilton Hill Community Group.
Just days before a much-anticipated open day to celebrate their new centre The Hub, thieves broke in and stole a 600kg pizza oven that was to be used to provide free pizza to event attendees.
Weeks later, and still with no word about where the pizza oven is, volunteers were dealt another blow when they discovered their key safe had also been stolen in a separate incident, forcing them to change all the locks.
Hamilton Hill Community Group volunteer Christine Duckham said it was upsetting that they continued to be targeted by thieves when they were there to help the community.
“It feels disheartening and it is inexplicable,” she said.
“Our aim is to make positive and significant changes to ensure Hamilton Hill is a great place to live, work and play.
“We are a varied group of locals who share common values, we have a positive view and are focused on changing our suburb for the better.”
Anybody with information about the pizza oven’s location are asked to call Murdoch police on 9313 9000.
