HAMILTON Hill resident Edna Adams is planning to celebrate her 100th birthday today.
Aged care facility Bethanie Illawong will mark the occasion with a special lunch with Edna’s family and other residents at the facility. A second celebration, an afternoon tea, will be held at the Illawong Chapel later in the day.
Mrs Adams was born in Cottesloe.
She met her partner Malcolm, a marine and electrical engineer in the navy, through mutual friends and they married before World War II.
Together they set up Adams Electric in Fremantle in the late 1950s, proving particularly popular with the Japanese tuna fleet which would visit for ship repairs.
The pair has four children (three daughters and a son), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs Adams, Bethanie’s oldest resident, moved to the facility 13 years ago and still remains a big part of social activities and groups.
