A TROOP of Carey Baptist College students are putting the final touches on their moves as they prepare for an international cheerleading competition.
Forty-two students from the college’s Harrisdale campus are off to England to compete in next month’s Future Cheer Internationals competition before heading south for a performance at Disneyland Paris.
Carey cheerleading director Amy Taylor said the students had been preparing diligently for the competition, training three times a week before school and performing in smaller weekend events and showcases.
“The competition will be marked on a number of elements, the main four being building skills, tumbling skills, dance skills and overall impression,” she said.
“The team has trained and worked so hard to prepare for this occasion and we are hoping to place in the top ten in both the junior and senior categories.
“I think with all the effort they have put in, if the routine goes well on the day, this is very likely.”
The Future Cheer Internationals competition runs from July 5 to 7.
