A SOUTH Fremantle festival dedicated to one of the most iconic of Italian meals has returned for its 19th serving.

The Lilly Street Lasagna Bake-Off will enter its 19th year with another massive community celebration, with residents of the street and wider community again urged to make their best lasagne and enter the competition for a chance to win local culinary glory.

Event organiser Jennifer Baker said the event had become an important date on the local community calendar.

“It has definitely got bigger but we have tried really hard to keep it grounded and ‘organic’ in that we have resisted any temptations to go big and we have resisted famous chefs and celebrity appearances,” she said.

The event is on November 19, with judging starting at noon.
