CELEBRATE a romantic St Valentine’s Day under the stars with the annual Poetry d’Amour night.

Hilton’s Liana Joy Christensen and Hamilton Hill’s Amanda Joy will be among five published poets reading their favourite love poems on the night, while South Fremantle’s Kate Hall and Carolyn Abbs, Beaconsfield’s Tineke Van der Eecken, O’Connor’s Janet Woods and Renee Pettitt-Schipp, from Coolbellup, are among those whose work has been included in the recently released Poetry d’Amour anthology.

Ms Van der Eecken said after five years of holding the event, she was excited Poetry d’Amour was catching on.

“People now associate us with good poetry, excellent performances and terrific books of love poems by mostly local authors,” she said.

“For many people Poetry d’Amour was their first poetry show and last week only, someone who does not usually go to poetry events came up to me saying they love Poetry d’Amour so much that she and her partner read a poem from the anthology to each other each day.

“Poetry d’Amour converts people to being more open to hearing and reading poetry because what we offer is fresh and diverse.”

The Poetry d’Amour night is on February 14 from 7.30pm at the Mattie Furphy House Amphitheatre in Swanbourne.

Tickets start from $10.
