Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

TWO southern suburbs newsagencies are in celebration mode after both sold winning division one tickets in the Saturday Lotto draw.

The tickets, which were purchased at Spearwood Heights Newsagency and Nextra Harrisdale, netted the winners over $1.6m each.

He was in such disbelief when the numbers matched that he called his son to be sure.

“I told him to keep a cool head first, because he’s always said that to me,” the son said.

“When he read back the numbers, I said ‘Unbelievable, you’ve done it!’”

The grandfather said he would use the money to build his son a home.

The Spearwood ticket is yet to be claimed.

Spearwood Heights Newsagency owner Anton Hamdani said it was a great result for both them and the winner.

“This is a dream that we sold it,” he said.

“It’s proof you should never give up trying.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said WA ticket holders had a great run of luck recently.

“February has seen a division one winner for every Saturday this month so far,” she said.

“These latest winners have bumped our 2019 Western Australia tally up to 11 division one winners.

“Our advice is simple; make sure you check your ticket because you just might be holding a million dollar ticket.”
