POLICE have charged a man after he allegedly set fire to his car following a crash in Bibra Lake, destroying it as well as a Coaster bus.

Police allege that at about 10.15am yesterday the man was driving his bronze coloured Toyota Camry sedan in an erratic manner along Hobley Way in Spearwood.

They say he drove onto the front lawn of a residence on Hobley Way and struck the house, destroying a large pot plant and causing significant damage to the Camry.

The man then allegedly went to Port Kembla Drive in Bibra Lake where he drove at speed into a Toyota Coaster bus parked at a property.

Police allege the man set fire to the Camry after this crash and, due to the fact the bus was so close, it also caught fire and was destroyed.

The fire spread to the property causing smoke and burn damage.

A 40-year-old man from Spearwood has been charged with three counts of criminal damage by fire, unlawful damage and reckless driving.

He is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
