A BRAND new collection of fitness equipment is helping Atwell Primary School students and the wider community to become more healthy.

The school decided a brand new fitness circuit would be a welcome addition to their oval after the existing but ageing equipment had been gradually removed over the years.

After help from the City of Cockburn and Fremantle MHR Josh Wilson, as well as fundraising from the P&C, new equipment including a rock wall and pole, monkey bars and swinging balance beam were installed in February.

Atwell PS deputy principal Thomas Jones said the students were enjoying the new equipment.

“The equipment helps with fitness, balance, upper body strength, coordination, climbing etc and is included in PE programming sessions,” he said.

“The equipment is on our oval which allows access for the wider community outside school hours, it allows morning/afternoon fitness groups, children and parents to enjoy physical activity to help keep optimum well being.

“It is always important for us to think of our wider school community when making decisions on need resources.

“The benefits will be enjoyed for years to come.”
