New Sunday markets for Beeliar

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

BARGAIN hunters and those looking to sell their unwanted goods now have a new market to enjoy in Cockburn.

Since March 10 the Rotary Club of Cockburn and the Jandakot Lakes Lions Club have held the Beeliar Markets every Sunday, inviting locals to the Beeliar Village Shopping Centre where they can buy or sell pre-used items such as clothes, furniture, gardening equipment, books, toys and sporting equipment among other things.

Rotary Club of Cockburn’s Ray McKinnon said getting the market off the ground had been a two year process from start to finish but that locals had responded well to it.

“The community reached out for this event to happen and it is now in place and will keep going every Sunday for as long as the community wants it,” he said.

“Rather than having a garage sale, come to the market where there will be many more buyers.

“Buyers can get extraordinary bargains and every dollar saved can help their own budget.

“All money goes back into the Cockburn community, particularly youth programs.”

The Beeliar Market is held every Sunday at $10 a bay for sellers and gold coin entry for buyers.

Sellers should be in place before 7am, which is when the market is open to buyers.
