SUCCESS has officially been left off the local intake area (LIA) for the new high school in Hammond Park.

Parents of Success and Jandakot primary school students have been battling for inclusion after learning their suburb had been left off February’s preliminary boundaries, telling the Gazette many of their homes were within an easy walk or cycle to the new campus and that it would stop children having to cross to the other side of Kwinana Freeway to attend Atwell College.

But they were again left disappointed on Tuesday when the Education Department released the official LIA with Success omitted.

Last Thursday City of Cockburn councillors had voted to write a letter to the education minister advocating for the suburb’s inclusion.

Children in Success will continue to be zoned for Atwell College.

The yet to be named Hammond Park school will open in 2020 with Henderson, Wattleup, Mandogalup, Wandi, Hammond Park, Aubin Grove and Banjup included in the LIA.
