North Coogee’s Alex Baldock building a future with award wins

Bryce LuffCockburn Gazette

The North Coogee resident looks well on the way to a successful career in the building industry.

In November the 21-year-old claimed the Ric New Rising Star Award for his work as a trainee estimator and scheduler with Activa Developments in Bibra Lake. He followed that in March by taking out North Metropolitan Tafe’s Trainee of the Year Award.

“The awards make me feel like I’m on the right path and doing the right things at the moment,” he said.

“I think they’re a reflection of the hard work and effort I’ve put in to date, and also all the help I’ve received along the way.”

Mr Baldock said he could see himself at the helm of his own building company, specialising in unit complexes and investment projects.

But for now he will take things slow by completing his Certificate IV in building and construction before going on to get his builder’s registration.

“There’s always lots of changes to regulations and new regulations to consider,” he said.
