LEGO and theatre united to teach students at two local primary schools all about recycling and waste.
The National Theatre for Children (NTC) visited Atwell and Piara Waters primary schools this week and used Lego education robotics to entertain their young audience while delving into the science around recycling and rubbish in Showdown at Waste World.
On top of the stage performance, students also used Lego Education WeDo 2.0 kits to build a motorised model based on what they had learned from the show.

READ NOWNTC managing director Tobias Benn said the hands-on project was a STEM education opportunity for primary school students that combined theatre, classroom-friendly software and fun science projects.
“The show goes beyond reading or other more passive methods of engaging kids,” he said.
“These children are watching a story unfold right before their very eyes, with the two actors playing all sorts of characters.
“We don’t lose the kids’ attention for a minute, because they get to respond and interact with the show.
“It really sticks with them and inspires them to participate in the follow up hands-on STEM based learning with the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 kits.”
The production was a collaboration between NTC and Stockland.
