Police call for witnesses to fight at South Lake football function

POLICE are calling for witnesses to a fight at a football function on Saturday afternoon that left a man in hospital.

A 32-year-old man was at the function at Anning Park in Thomas Street, South Lake, at 4.30pm.

A fight allegedly took place between the victim and two other men, one of whom punched him in the face.

Police claim the other man struck him with a metal chain to the head.

Witnesses intervened and the 32-year-old man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment.

A 19-year-old South Lake man was charged with unlawful wounding and a 38-year-old South Lake man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both will appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on September 18.
