Bryce LuffCockburn Gazette

A SELF-CONFESSED “sci-fi geek” who volunteers at Oz Comic Con events around the country has implored people to come and have a look when the road-show opens in Perth next week.

Yangebup resident Kay Di Bisceglie has offered her services pro-bono for the last five years, working her way up from the information desk to become second-in-command of volunteers.

“Oz Comic Con is in a world of its own,” she said.

“The atmosphere is electric.

“It’s great to see people get dressed up and all the effort that goes into costumes.

“The panels are great too. The actors let you into their private lives. It’s not a side of them you usually get.”

Ms Di Bisceglie, a network marketer by day, said the event attracted people from all sectors of the community.

“We have doctors, teachers, lawyers – everyone,” she said.

“It’s a great escape and a family friendly event where you can jump into the fantasy world and not feel out of place.

“Come and have a look.”
