THE team keeping Coogee beach visitors safe during the warmer months will spread their wings this week as they tackle the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
The two-day, 200km ride raises money for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Coogee Cycling Crew team leader Sarah McDonald, who is also director of lifesaving at the popular Coogee Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, said the team were aiming to top their 2015 effort of $40,000.

Crew member Paul Tarzia was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour two weeks after signing up for the ride in February 2015.
“He has been battling ever since and had copious amounts of treatment, but he managed to finish the ride last year and will be doing it again this year,” Ms McDonald said.
“He is a huge inspiration to all of us as his condition can’t be cured; it is being managed in the hope that some better treatment or cure is found.”
Cockburn MLA Fran Logan, who has done the ride once before, will join the team on their 2016 quest.
He said he hoped the team could raise important money and awareness of the issue.
