Belinda CiprianoCockburn Gazette

THE Grinch that stole Christmas has come early for residents on Mudlark Way in Yangebup, with several homes featuring Christmas light displays targeted by thieves.

Peter Oliver, who has decorated his home for about eight years, said thieves targeted his home this week – taking a charity tin filled with donations for Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).

“We’ve been raising money for years along with other neighbours in the street and this year we’ll have nothing to give them,” Mr Oliver said.

Mr Oliver said his display was on for three hours every night between 7pm and 10pm and the collection was then brought inside.

“It must have been when we were inside,” he said.

“They must have had some bolt cutters because the tin was chained and it’s just been snipped.

“It really does make you lose faith in mankind to be honest.”

The incident has been reported to police.
