South Coogee PS students share spirit of Christmas

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

STUDENTS at South Coogee Primary School have a long and assorted wish list for Santa this Christmas.

Electronics such as tablets, phones, gaming consoles and fitness trackers were high on the list, but students also expressed their hopes for rollerskates, more books to read and even an “I’m happy with anything” from one young girl.

The Cockburn Gazette visited the school recently to ask, “Why is Christmas special to you” and we got some great answers in response.

Twelve-year-old Nicholas Lawson-Lofrentz said he liked that Christmas allowed him to catch up with extended family and friends.

“I like that you get to see people that you don’t see everyday, for example my mum’s cousin, the people you don’t get to see because of school,” he said.

Isabelle Cross (12) and Zara Foggerdy (9) agreed, saying they too enjoyed spending time with family.

“You get to spend time with family and friends and just have a really nice day,” Isabelle said.

“It’s time to se your family and have fun with everyone that you’re celebrating with,” Zara said.

Ten-year-old Kori Rainey said she loved the spirit of Christmas, especially when Santa arrived.

“I don’t get to see my family very often because they live in different countries and states, and I just love going to see people that I love and that I cherish in my life,” she said.

“I like having a nice dinner, opening the presents and giving presents to them.

“And I enjoy Santa giving amazing presents to everyone.”
