South Coogee students train for Chevron City to Surf

SOUTH Coogee Primary School students will run 4km in the Chevron City to Surf this year on Sunday, August 27.

The students will raise funds for a charity of their choice, and associate principal Jason Bushe-Jones said there were 15 participants signed up already.

Mr Bushe-Jones started the school’s first runners club this year.

“We practise every Thursday with 40 to 50 kids doing a 1km to 5km Runners Club,” he said.

“They are there at 7.30am rain, hail, or shine.

“We set a course around the school of about 1km and parents and other staff come along and there is breakfast after as well.”

The Golden Eggs Schools Program will provide nutritional support to the students in the lead up to the big race.
