Spearwood man charged with assaulting 90-year-old woman in Kardinya

POLICE have charged a man with a range of offences culminating in the alleged assault of a 90-year-old woman as she used an ATM in Kardinya.

About 7.15am on Wednesday March 21, the man approached a 59-year-old man in the carpark of a café located on South Street in O’Connor and asked for money.

When the victim refused the man allegedly punched the windscreen of the man’s car with enough force to crack the windscreen.

The following day, the man was seen walking along Fitzwater Way in Spearwood about 3.30pm carrying a metal pole.

Police allege he approached a 24-year-old man and threatened him with the pole before walking away.

About 3pm on Friday March 23 a 90-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman were using an ATM located at a shopping centre on South Street in Kardinya.

Police allege the man assaulted both women, striking them to the face.

Both woman fell to the ground and the man left the area.

A 36-year-old man of Spearwood has been charged with criminal damage, being armed in a way that may cause fear, disorderly conduct, assault occasioning bodily harm, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm and assaulting a public officer.

He is due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
