BIBRA Lake is now a little cleaner after a group of Emmanuel Catholic College students gave up their Sunday to pick up rubbish from the natural reserve.

More than 50 students participated in the Clean Up Australia event, filling more than 60 large bags with the rubbish they collected.

An Emmanuel Catholic College spokesperson said the event was an opportunity for the students to grow awareness about the impact of rubbish on natural areas and encourage them to help fix the problem.

“Not only do these fantastic efforts help to preserve the natural environment of the fresh water lake and its surrounds, they also help to maintain the health and habitats of the variety of native animals that inhabit the area,” she said.
