SIXTEEN Emmanuel Catholic College students lopped off their hair in a fundraiser for children living with cancer.
The Ponytail Project event on August 28 gave the group Year 11 and 12 students and two teachers the choice to shave their heads to raise money or chop off their long hair to be turned into a wig.
Year 11 student Kirstie Crommelin said she gave 35.5cm of hair for the cause.

READ NOW“I signed up after being informed that a third of people will know of someone with or be diagnosed with cancer and I wanted to raise awareness,” she said.
“I wanted to set an example that we can all do our part to support those with cancer, it’s the least I could do with my hair being long enough to donate.
“I am lucky enough to be able to make a difference in a child’s life with my peers at school.
“It’s rewarding knowing that we are making a difference and I hope that it will continue on in the future to raise as much money for the families being courageous.”
With a bake sale, sausage sizzle and scrunchie sales also held on the day, more than $3100 was raised for Variety.
