Teens charged after ‘out of control gathering’ at Cockburn Youth Centre

UP to 60 teenagers are believed to have been involved in a massive brawl outside the Cockburn Youth Centre overnight, leading to multiple charges.

Police were called to the Success facility just after 8.20pm following reports of youths drinking and being aggressive.

“Police arrived and located around 50 to 60 youths fighting at the centre and adjacent areas,” a police spokeswoman said.

“An ‘out of control gathering’ was declared and several more police units arrived to assist.”

Police charged a 15-year-old Yangebup boy with trespass, disorderly behaviour, refusing to give his name and criminal damage after allegedly destroying an electrical vehicle charging station.

A 17 year-old boy from Yangebup was charged with obstructing police, trespass and disorderly behaviour.

Both boys will appear in the Fremantle Children’s Court on May 4.

A 14-year-old boy from Hamilton Hill was charged with obstructing police and summonsed to appear before court at a later date.

A 15-year-old boy from Coolbellup was issued a move on notice.
