TELETHON Speech and Hearing (TSH) has opened their second outlet in Cockburn to better help children living in the southern suburbs.

The new centre, which joins the existing Wembley service, was officially opened at the Cockburn Integrated Health Service on June 12 and will provide an audiology booth and speech pathology services to local families.

Piara Waters resident and ‘The Aussie Mummy’ blogger Breeahn Carter is an ambassador for the clinic’s launch and said it was reassuring to have TSH so close to home.

“We hear so many stories of hearing loss and speech and language delays in young children and often as mothers we don’t know who to call or where to go,” she said.

“There are also a lot of people in our community who are waiting to access audiology support for their children, sometimes up to a year.

“I feel comforted knowing that my child can be seen within two weeks by a paediatric audiologist.”

TSH chief executive Mark Fitzpatrick said their move to Success was made possible by a City of Cockburn grant that had supported the audio booth’s establishment.

“We had been looking at ways to expand our audiology services to support children and families of all ages in Cockburn and the surrounding suburbs,” he said.

“By working with the Cockburn Integrated Health Centre we can provide much needed support for families in the local area.”
