A NEW garden celebrating the six seasons of Nyoongar culture took centre stage during Reconciliation Week.

ATCO Australia recently completed a Six Seasons Garden at their Jandakot Operations Centre, just in time for National Reconciliation Week celebrations from May 27 to June 3.

ATCO Australia community partnerships manager Wilmari Nel said Whadjuk Nyoongar Alton Walley took staff on walk through the garden, sharing the important roles the seasons of Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang play in his culture.

“It was wonderful to have Alton share an important part of the Nyoongar culture with us,” she said.

“It was fascinating to learn of every stage of the year and develop a deeper understanding and respect for the land and nature around us.”
